Preseason or not, the Rams are back

This day couldn't have taken any longer than it did to arrive. But despite it all, the wait feels like it was all worth it. The St. Louis Rams are officially back in action at the Edward Jones Dome -- in what has been entirely too long.

I haven't had this much excitement for a sports team in a long while. I normally don't even like preseason at all. I don't mind it the first week or two, but have always hated the four weeks of meaningless games--and this season, preseason football--whether it counts or not, is football, indeed.

Tonight, when the Rams kick off the preseason slate at home against the Indianapolis Colts, Peyton Manning won't be playing due to an injury--but that hasn't stopped "Ram Nation" from getting excited -- the entire city is as excited as they have been for this football team since the days of the 'Greatest Show on Turf', and we all know about them seasons.

And I will say it right now, "In Sam Bradford We Trust".

Last season's vibe from the team, added with the addition of all of the newcomers' this team has, has everybody eager to watch this team grow together. Head coach Steve Spagnoulo is begining to get all of his guys on the team and build it around his system--and right now, he seems to be going in a very good direction.

The offensive line is beginning to grow up and has gotten nastier with the addition of Harvey Dahl from Atlanta, which as Steven Jackson stated last week, will "lengthen" his career, and will do wonders helping provide Bradford and the rest of the offense the time needed to get there jobs done. The team signed Cadillac Williams to back SJax up--which provides a sick combo in the backfield of Jackson and Cadillac.

The wide reciever position is looking much stronger this season--added in with a lot more potential. The team signed Mike Sims-Walker from Jacksonville, and drafted both Austin Pettis (Boise State) and Greg Salas (Hawaii), which bring a lot of speed to go downfield with, giving Bradford even more weapons.

The defense added strengths as well, bringing in the likes of Jon Leber (Vikings), Quintonn Mickel at safety, and also first-round draft pick from North Carolina, Robert Quinn.

No matter if the game tonight counts, it's an event to sink into and enjoy. Despite the long-drawn out lockout that just ended, and the greediness shown by both sides, the NFL and Rams are back. Sam Bradford, Steven Jackson, and the promising young gunners from St. Louis are ready to start it all over again.

As they always say, only time will tell what this team can do. But as I am saying--as well as people all across the country are saying, lets get ready for some football!!!!!!
