Let’s go week by week to figure out our prediction for the Rams 2011 season. Guaranteed to not be 100% correct! All after the jump.
WEEK 01
Philadelphia Eagles
The Rams have a tough game here and we will preview it more in depth the next few days, but the Rams offense will have to utilize the tight ends against the Eagles linebackers since the corners are superb. The defense will have to push Mike Vick right and keep him in the pocket and tackle him when they have the chances. Prediction: LOSS. Rams are 0-1.
WEEK 02
@ New York Giants
The Rams are on Monday Night Football to face the injury-riddled Giants who will be coming off an ego-enhancing win over the struggling Redskins. The Giants can still rush the passer, but I think the Rams will be able to block them up. If the Rams can contain the Giants running game, they can win this game. Prediction: WIN. Rams are 1-1.
WEEK 03
Baltimore Ravens
This is a tremendously tough home game against a physical Ravens team. The Rams will have to again, stop the run and force Joe Flacco to throw the ball. Flacco is a statue in the pocket and if the Rams get to him, they should be able to bring him down. However, the Ravens defense should stymie the Rams offense. Prediction: LOSS. Rams are 1-2.
WEEK 04
Washington Redskins
The Redskins come to town next and are a much more welcome sight than their mid Atlantic compatriots. The Redskins look to be in disarray on both sides of the ball. Mike Shanahan’s “genius” tag will really come under pressure this season. The Rams should be able to boss around the Redskins offense enough to give the Rams offense short fields. Predicition: WIN. Rams are 2-2.

WEEK 06
@ Green Bay Packers
The Rams head to Lambeau to face the defending champions. The Rams are improving, but still are not at the same level as the Packers, especially at home. The Packers offense should find mismatches in the Rams secondary and Aaron Rodgers has the arm to exploit them. Prediction: LOSS. Rams are 2-3.
WEEK 07
@ Dallas Cowboys
The Rams travel to Jerry World to take on the always overhyped Dallas Cowboys team. This year, the Cowboys are going to struggle again with an offensive line that is worse than the Eagles line and a limited running game and slow pass defense. Prediction: WIN. Rams are 3-3.
WEEK 08
New Orleans Saints
The Saints are a tough team to play even at home. It sure feels like the Rams have played the Saints each of the last 3 years. The Saints offense is deep enough at receiver to overwhelm the Rams and their offensive line has had success blocking up the Rams blitzes. Prediction: LOSS. Rams are 3-4.
WEEK 09
@ Arizona Cardinals
The Rams finally get their first NFC West game in Week 9 and probably their toughest challenge with the resurgent Cardinals. This is a tough game to call as NFC West games are very close and the Rams have had trouble travelling to the desert until last year. Kevin Kolb and the home crowd should make enough difference for Arizona. Prediction: LOSS. Rams are 3-5.
WEEK 10
@ Cleveland Browns
The Browns are another up and coming team, but they aren’t quite there yet as the Rams face their old offensive coordinator in Pat Shurmur. Colt McCoy and Peyton Hillis should be able to very slowly move the offense on the Rams defense, but it won’t be enough. Prediction: WIN. Rams are 4-5.
WEEK 11
Seattle Seahawks
Many are predicting the Seahawks to go from first to worst in the NFC West, but I wouldn’t count them out yet. They have talent in a lot of places, but not everywhere. The Rams should be able to beat them at home just like they did last year. Prediction: WIN. Rams are 5-5.
WEEK 12
Arizona Cardinals
The Rams will be able to avenge the loss in the desert with a win at home over the Cardinals. Prediction: WIN. Rams are 6-5.
WEEK 13
@ San Francisco 49ers
The Rams had the 49ers on the ropes in SF last year and let them back in the game for a last gasp loss. They have hopefully learned from that game and will keep the petal to the metal when they have the other team on the ropes, if you will allow me to mix metaphors here. Prediction: WIN. Rams are 7-5.
WEEK 14
@ Seattle Seahawks
Until the Rams can get over their inability to win at Qwest Field, I will have to continue to call this game a loss. Prediction: LOSS. Rams are 7-6.
WEEK 15
Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals are really in trouble this year, with Andy Dalton at quarterback and not much talent throughout the rest of the squad. AJ Green is a talent, but he is about the only one on offense or defense. The Rams should be able to control Green and harass Dalton enough to win. Prediction: WIN. Rams are 8-6.
WEEK 16
@ Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers are tough. Especially in December. Especially in Pittsburgh. I don’t see the Rams winning this one: Predicition: LOSS. Rams are 8-7.
WEEK 17
San Francisco 49ers
The Rams were able to beat the 49ers in SF and by this time, I think they will be fully planning their vacations and offseason plans and hoping to get a high draft pick. Prediction: WIN. Rams are 9-7.
9-7 is a very rosy prediction for the Rams with this schedule. They have 7 solid losses in this hard schedule and have proven over the past two seasons that they can turn wins into losses, especially away from home. @SF, @NYG, @CLE are all games that could go either way. So, I’ll give the Rams 9-7 as an optimistic prediction.
